Animal Education and Rescue Organization (A.E.R.O.) is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of orphaned, injured and sick native Virginia wildlife in need of help in order to survive. Our Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (VDWR) licensed wildlife rehabilitators, apprentices, and care providers devote hundreds of hours to restore the wildlife in their care to good health so that they can be released back into the wild.

Wildlife Advice
Advising the public on how to reunite baby wildlife with their mothers and ensuring that babies that come into our care are not separated unnecessarily from their home environment.

Individualized Care
Providing home-based, licensed, quality care for the orphaned, sick or injured wildlife who need human assistance in surviving before being released back into the wild.

Public Outreach
Increasing awareness and understanding in our Northern Virginia communities on how to co-exist with our wildlife neighbors through education and conservation efforts.
Native Virginia wildlife arrive at our our home-based facilities from the general public, animal control officers, humane societies, nearby wildlife centers, and veterinary clinics. A.E.R.O. took in over 1,000 animals in 2021 and we expect to take in even more patients in 2022 with our expanded group of VDWR wildlife licensees.
Our team works and lives throughout the Virginia counties (and cities therein) of Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, Prince William, Loundon and Fauquier.
