Interested in Volunteering as:

Caregiver 1: For new or prospective wildlife rehabilitators. No prior experience required. Will be assigned non-RVS (Rabies Vector Species) animals under the supervision of a licensed rehabber. Must be willing to complete basic training and permit application if continuing.

Transporter 1: For individuals interested in helping move wildlife from the public or animal services to a licensed caregiver or vet. Must have a reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and insurance. Must be responsive and available on-call during designated times. No permit required.

Caregiver 2: For individuals already licensed as wildlife rehabilitators in Virginia. Must submit a copy of current permit. Will be considered for full list of animal care, potentially including RVS but must be pre-vaccinated. May mentor Caregiver I volunteers.

Transporter 2: For licensed rehabilitators who also provide transport assistance for other rehabbers. May assist with complex or medical transfers. Must carry a valid rehab permit and be able to handle wildlife confidently.

Apprentice: For individuals with prior experience or those already licensed in another state or capacity (e.g., vet staff, zookeeper, wildlife center staff). Must demonstrate prior relevant experience. Will receive hands-on training and supervision. May transition to Caregiver II if pursuing Virginia licensure.
